Nearly a century ago, a family business founded in a small town in Brazil set out a simple purpose: to support the development and flourishing of growing communities.
Today, this vision continues to be successfully carried out in Canada and the United States by Votorantim Cimentos North America (VCNA), where a family of trusted regional business units helps build the infrastructure that supports millions of people across the continent.
While our business has grown across oceans and regions, one thing has never changed: we believe success is built through people, relationships, and a commitment to building Lasting Results.
VCNA is one of North America’s leading building materials companies, serving customers through an integrated network of cement plants, ready-mix concrete operations, aggregate sites, distribution terminals, and construction material businesses.
Our customers build some of the most important infrastructure in their regions, from highways and bridges to schools, landmark high-rises, sports arenas, commercial developments, and homes. From Chicago’s famous skyline and the sports arenas of Detroit and Buffalo to Ontario’s most recognizable landmarks – we help make these places possible. Our materials are the foundation of the places where life happens, communities gather, and memories are made.
Supported by Votorantim Cimentos, one of the world’s leading building materials companies, we combine global expertise with strong local relationships to create lasting value for customers and communities alike.

For more than two decades, VCNA has grown by bringing together respected regional companies that share a commitment to quality, innovation, and long-term investment.
Every acquisition has expanded more than our footprint. It has strengthened our ability to serve customers with deeper expertise, stronger supply networks, and greater operational capabilities:
VCNA is formed as Votorantim Cimentos acquires St Marys Cement, along with Canada Building Materials (CBM), and begins building a North American portfolio focused on cement, ready mixed concrete, and aggregates.
Agreement with the Suwannee American Cement joint venture, strengthening our cement and distribution footprint.
Acquisition of the Charlevoix and Dixon assets from CEMEX, increasing cement production capacity and regional reach.
Acquisition of Prestige, further expanding our ready mix concrete and aggregates network.
Acquisition of Prairie Materials, adding a leading Illinois and Indiana concrete and aggregates platform to VCNA.
Transition toward a more unified global operating model, aligning North America with Votorantim Cimentos’ global standards for safety, governance, and operational excellence.
Divestment of Florida businesses, sharpening our focus on core Great Lakes, Midwest, Northeastern, and Canadian markets.
Acquisition of United Materials, extending our ready mixed concrete footprint in New York State and strengthening our regional supply chain.
Superior Materials joint venture becomes a fully owned VCNA business, and we integrate Ciment McInnis and acquire Valley View Industries, further consolidating our position as an integrated cement and concrete leader in Eastern North America.
Excellence is a standard we demonstrate, project by project, site by site, year after year. As a building materials supplier trusted with some of North America’s most demanding infrastructure, we are regularly called on for major transportation corridors, health care facilities, industrial plants, and civic infrastructure, where consistency is critical. This trust is something we earn continuously, and our record reflects it.
Our commitment to excellence extends to the Safety and Health of our employees and customers, while recognizing that safety is a continuous journey of learning, improvement, and shared accountability. Last year, our teams conducted more than 75,000 risk evaluations, completed over 8,000 safety talks, and carried out nearly 20,000 work observations. These numbers result from a proactive safety culture built into daily operations at every level of our organization, from frontline crews to executive leadership.
This same discipline extends to how we manage our environmental responsibilities. Our CBM McMillan site in Ontario scored a 7 out of 10 on the Biodiversity Indicator and Reporting System, well above the industry average of 4, driven in part by vernal pool construction that now supports the blue-spotted salamander, a specially protected species under Ontario law. St Marys Cement earned Natural Resources Canada’s ENERGY STAR for Industry certification in 2024, placing it in the top quartile for energy performance across Canada and the United States. In the same year, VCNA took home four awards in the Slag Cement Association’s Sustainable Concrete Awards, recognizing our use of materials that reduce the environmental footprint of concrete production.
Recognition like this matters, but it is the work behind it that we are most proud. Our VC Way pushes us to hold ourselves to a higher standard, not because it is required, but because our commitment to building a Sustainable Legacy and Lasting Results demand it.
Buildings are only as strong as the foundations beneath them, and the same is true for VCNA.
Our VC Way is the shared culture that connects every business in the Votorantim Cimentos family. It defines how we work together, serve customers, support one another, and create long-term value for our communities.
Organized around three dimensions – Our Way of Being, Our Way of Working, and Our Way of Thriving- Our VC Way transforms nine guiding principles into everyday actions.
Safety and Health are non-negotiable and always come before results. We do the right thing, respecting Ethics and Diversity, and learn from differences. Open Dialogue is encouraged as it strengthens our interactions and creates space for individual and collective growth.
Having a Customer Focus provides insight into their real needs and guides our processes and decisions. We cultivate relationships with Trust and Simplicity to create agile and uncomplicated solutions. Acting with Ownership helps us achieve our goals, regardless of roles and positions.
Embracing mistakes and understanding them is part of the innovation process and helps us Learn and Evolve. We work on creating Lasting Results every day, in line with our long-term vision and entrepreneurial essence. As part of our Sustainable Legacy, each of us contributes to the development of people, the environment, and the communities where we operate.
Buildings may be made of cement, aggregates, and concrete, but companies are built by people.
Across VCNA, many of our longest-standing employees have spent decades helping shape the business, growing their careers alongside the communities they serve. In all of our business units, it is common to find multiple generations of the same family working together. Parents have introduced sons and daughters to the business, siblings have built careers side by side, and employees have become mentors to the next generation.
That sense of continuity is one of our greatest strengths. The knowledge, craftsmanship, and relationships built over decades are passed from one generation to the next, creating a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and pride in our work.
At the same time, we know that lasting success depends on fresh perspectives and thoughtful innovation. We continue to invest in new talent, leadership development, and continuous learning, creating opportunities for people at every stage of their careers to grow, contribute, and challenge us to think differently.
Our legacy is not about preserving the past. It is about carrying forward the values that have earned trust for generations while embracing the ideas that build the future.
