From One Family’s Vision to North America’s Foundations

Nearly a century ago, a family business founded in a small town in Brazil set out a simple purpose: to support the development and flourishing of growing communities.

Today, this vision continues to be successfully carried out in Canada and the United States by Votorantim Cimentos North America (VCNA), where a family of trusted regional business units helps build the infrastructure that supports millions of people across the continent.

While our business has grown across oceans and regions, one thing has never changed: we believe success is built through people, relationships, and a commitment to building Lasting Results.

Qui sommes-nous

VCNA is one of North America’s leading building materials companies, serving customers through an integrated network of cement plants, ready-mix concrete operations, aggregate sites, distribution terminals, and construction material businesses.

Our customers build some of the most important infrastructure in their regions, from highways and bridges to schools, landmark high-rises, sports arenas, commercial developments, and homes. From Chicago’s famous skyline and the sports arenas of Detroit and Buffalo to Ontario’s most recognizable landmarks – we help make these places possible. Our materials are the foundation of the places where life happens, communities gather, and memories are made.

Supported by Votorantim Cimentos, one of the world’s leading building materials companies, we combine global expertise with strong local relationships to create lasting value for customers and communities alike.

Our Family of Regional Businesses

While VCNA operates as one organization, our strength comes from a diversity of business units that have earned the trust of their communities over decades. Each business understands its local market while benefiting from shared technical expertise, operational excellence, innovation, and the resources of a global organization.

Commitment to Excellence

Excellence is a standard we demonstrate, project by project, site by site, year after year. As a building materials supplier trusted with some of North America’s most demanding infrastructure, we are regularly called on for major transportation corridors, health care facilities, industrial plants, and civic infrastructure, where consistency is critical. This trust is something we earn continuously, and our record reflects it.

Our commitment to excellence extends to the Safety and Health of our employees and customers, while recognizing that safety is a continuous journey of learning, improvement, and shared accountability. Last year, our teams conducted more than 75,000 risk evaluations, completed over 8,000 safety talks, and carried out nearly 20,000 work observations. These numbers result from a proactive safety culture built into daily operations at every level of our organization, from frontline crews to executive leadership.

This same discipline extends to how we manage our environmental responsibilities. Our CBM McMillan site in Ontario scored a 7 out of 10 on the Biodiversity Indicator and Reporting System, well above the industry average of 4, driven in part by vernal pool construction that now supports the blue-spotted salamander, a specially protected species under Ontario law. St Marys Cement earned Natural Resources Canada’s ENERGY STAR for Industry certification in 2024, placing it in the top quartile for energy performance across Canada and the United States. In the same year, VCNA took home four awards in the Slag Cement Association’s Sustainable Concrete Awards, recognizing our use of materials that reduce the environmental footprint of concrete production.

Recognition like this matters, but it is the work behind it that we are most proud. Our VC Way pushes us to hold ourselves to a higher standard, not because it is required, but because our commitment to building a Sustainable Legacy and Lasting Results demand it.

A Legacy Built by People

Buildings may be made of cement, aggregates, and concrete, but companies are built by people.

Across VCNA, many of our longest-standing employees have spent decades helping shape the business, growing their careers alongside the communities they serve. In all of our business units, it is common to find multiple generations of the same family working together. Parents have introduced sons and daughters to the business, siblings have built careers side by side, and employees have become mentors to the next generation.

That sense of continuity is one of our greatest strengths. The knowledge, craftsmanship, and relationships built over decades are passed from one generation to the next, creating a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and pride in our work.

At the same time, we know that lasting success depends on fresh perspectives and thoughtful innovation. We continue to invest in new talent, leadership development, and continuous learning, creating opportunities for people at every stage of their careers to grow, contribute, and challenge us to think differently.

Our legacy is not about preserving the past. It is about carrying forward the values that have earned trust for generations while embracing the ideas that build the future.
