The Seven Pillars that Guide Sustainability

Sustainability is not only an environmental commitment, but it is also how we run our sites, build our teams, and invest in the people who choose to stay with us for the long term. Every site decision, every product formulation, and every community partnership reflects a set of commitments we have structured into seven pillars, each with measurable targets and a clear connection to Our VC Way.

Our Commitments, in Practice

Votorantim Cimentos’ 2030 sustainability targets set the direction for every business unit under VCNA:
Reduce net carbon dioxide emissions to 520 kilograms per tonne of cementitious product.
Achieve 53 percent thermal substitution using alternative fuels.
Advance toward carbon-neutral concrete by 2050.
These are not aspirational statements. They are the benchmarks our teams plan against, report on, and are held accountable for every year, across every business unit. Our integrated reports and ESG disclosures document that progress openly, because transparency is how trust is built.

Our Seven Sustainability Pillars

Pillar 1

Safety, health, and well-being are fundamental values.

Pillar 2

We operate with integrity and transparency.

Pillar 3

Innovation: We co-create sustainable solutions.

Pillar 4

A diverse and inclusive environment.

Pillar 5

Reducing our environmental footprint.

Pillar 6

Promoting a more circular business environment.

Pillar 7

Generating shared values in our communities.

Engagements en matière de développement durable pour 2030

VCNA follows Votorantim Cimentos’ 2030 targets, including reducing net CO2 emissions to 520 kg per tonne of cementitious product and achieving 53% thermal substitution with alternative fuels. These measurable goals across seven pillars guide progress toward carbon-neutral concrete by 2050.

Our Integrated Report

Votorantim Cimentos’ Integrated Report details financial performance, sustainability progress, and governance for the year, highlighting record EBITDA, net revenue growth, and decarbonization advances like a 1% CO2 emissions reduction. It covers investments in competitiveness, portfolio optimization, and alignment with 2030 sustainability commitments.

Health, Safety, and Well-Being

Our commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our people is the first expression of Our VC Way, and it shapes the culture that makes all other progress possible. Safety at VCNA is not a compliance obligation; it is a personal promise we make to one another every time we walk onto a plant floor, a job site, or into an office. Our teams have conducted more than 75,000 risk evaluations, completed over 8,000 safety talks, and carried out nearly 20,000 work observations.

Leading with Integrity and Transparency

Our Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, and Anti-Corruption frameworks are the formal structure, but the daily practice of Ethics and Diversity is what gives them meaning. Across our North American operations, we work to build teams and workplaces where every person is treated with fairness, where diverse perspectives are genuinely valued, and where Open Dialogue replaces assumption. This is the foundation our customers, communities, and partners can rely on.

Innovating for a Lower-Carbon Future

Our VC Way calls us to Learn and Evolve, and nowhere is that more evident than in how we approach product development. VCNA continually invests in lower-carbon materials, including blended cements that reduce environmental impact without compromising performance. Our partnership with Concrete.ai has produced over 300,000 yards of AI-optimized mixes designed to meet customer sustainability targets. Environmental Product Declarations, available for our key products, give customers and project teams verified data to support their own sustainability decisions. The goal is not just cleaner products. It is a more sustainable construction industry, built one informed choice at a time.

Diversité et inclusion

Ethics and Diversity is one of the nine principles of Our VC Way, and it carries a clear expectation: do what is right, respect and include people as they are, and learn from the differences that make our teams stronger.

As part of Votorantim Cimentos, VCNA operates under a Global Diversity Commitment and a General Diversity and Inclusion Policy that establishes concrete guidelines across all regions, covering areas like fighting discrimination, respecting individuality, providing leadership training, and maintaining safe spaces where people can express themselves freely. Votorantim Cimentos is also a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles through UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, anchoring our diversity work in globally recognized standards.

In practice, this means building an organization where people from every background, and every path into this industry, have the opportunity to succeed at every level. We have developed programs that support employees with disabilities and invested in awareness and training around neurodiversity, so that different ways of thinking and working are understood rather than overlooked. These efforts reflect something broader than demographics alone. To us, diversity means a combination of different ideas, perspectives, and experiences, and our role is to create the conditions where all of them can contribute fully.

Turning Waste into Opportunity with Verdera Co-Processing

Through Verdera co-processing, we take waste that would otherwise end up in landfills and recover it as alternative fuel for cement production. This is Our VC Way’s Lasting Results principle applied to industrial operations: find the solution that works not just today, but for the long term. Verdera operates under strict environmental and safety compliance, and it represents one of the clearest examples of how VCNA turns operational responsibility into genuine environmental value.

Community Involvement

Our VC Way’s principle of Open Dialogue means we listen, communicate, and then act. Each VCNA business unit is empowered to identify what its local community actually needs and respond to it directly. In 2025, 497 team members volunteered 4,844 hours across more than 32 causes, from food banks and breast cancer walks to Habitat for Humanity builds and environmental clean-ups. Our CommUNITY Builders volunteer program supported affordable housing projects in the US and Ontario, contributing 203 hours through 29 employees in 2024 alone.

Protecting Our Shared Environment

Our Land, Resources, and Environment team uses the Biodiversity Indicator and Reporting System, developed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, to assess the ecological health of our operations. Our CBM McMillan site in Ontario scored 7 out of 10, nearly double the industry average of 4, supported by vernal pool construction that now provides habitat for the blue-spotted salamander, a specially protected species under Ontario law. At Westside Creek Marsh in the Durham Region, a $9.4 million investment transformed a degraded landscape into a 63.5-acre wetland now home to more than 250 bird species, with a further 120 acres of donated land ensuring its long-term protection. At Westside Creek Marsh in the Durham Region, a $9.4 million investment and the donation of 120 acres of land transformed a degraded landscape into a 25.7-hectare wetland now home to more than 250 bird species. These are practices that are built into our daily operations, and they are what a Sustainable Legacy actually looks like.

Our Living Commitment

Seven pillars, one direction. Each of these areas connects back to the same belief: that how we operate matters as much as what we produce. VCNA’s sustainability work is documented, targeted, and publicly reported because a value like Sustainable Legacy is proven by what we do, not by what we say. Our current and past projects reflect this commitment, and we know there is more work ahead of us.
